Virtually all of the surviving official files of SOE, including staff and agents’ personal files, are now held at the National Archives at Kew. There are many other files related to SOE ranging from the RAF’s Special Duties Squadrons to Prime Minister and War Cabinet papers
The Imperial War Museum
After the National Archives, the Imperial War Museum is the world’s principal repository of SOE material. The IWM holdings range from equipment, uniforms, medals and weapons to dozens of collections of diaries, letters and unpublished memoirs. Its oral history archives contain hundreds of hours of interviews with former members of SOE and special forces. All of these sources are available for study by members of the public, by appointment.

The Special Forces Club
The Special Forces Club was founded in 1945 by men and women who had served in and alongside SOE. Following the organisation’s disbandment after the war, it served as means of maintaining links between comrades-in-arms and keeping alive ‘The Spirit of Resistance’. Membership is still based strictly on those shared values. The club is not able to offer support to non-member researchers.
The Special Air Service Regimental Association

The SAS Regimental Association (registered charity No. 254393) is the only official organisation that represents the Special Air Service Regiment and its affiliated Units. Its website seeks to provide to give as much accurate information about the Special Air Service Regiment as possible, within the bounds of the Regiments disclosure policy; it also provides details of its Benevolent Fund.
The Scalloway Museum

Scalloway Museum is owned by a charity, the Shetland Bus Friendship Society, formed in 2001 to establish a memorial to those who served and died in Shetland Bus operations during World War II. The memorial was unveiled in 2003.
The Secret Army Exhibition, Beaulieu, Hampshire

During the Second World War, some 3,000 SOE agents were trained in conditions of great secrecy in a series of large country houses scattered across the Beaulieu Estate in the New Forest. This exhibition introduces visitors to the training schools, instructors and agents. The exhibition was opened by HRH The Princess Royal, patron of the Special Forces Club and Commandant-in-chief of the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry (FANY).

The Combined Services Museum at Maldon, Essex, includes among its displays several rare collections of material relating to SOE and British special forces.
